news releases BDO IN THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS PARTICIPATES IN 2011 TOUCH RUGBY TOURNAMENT News release On Saturday, October 8th 2011, the BDO corporate touch rugby team took to the fields for the 2011 Corporate Touch Rugby Tournament organized by the BVI Rugby Union. The Corporate event was held at the A.O Shirley Ground in Road Town, Tortola in order to raise funds for the BVI Women’s Touch Rugby tour to St. Lucia in mid-October 2011. Our squad of 9 members comprised of seven staff members and two spouses. The tournament marked the first rugby experience for the majority of our team and we were scheduled to play a total of five games throughout the afternoon, our opponents ranging from law firms, to local retail stores and mobile operators on the island. Although our team was new to the game, with only one practice session under the belt, we managed to claim victory on two of our five matches, losing the other three by a narrow margin. A hearty congratulations to our staff for their avid participation and good sportsmanship on the field. A fun-filled afternoon was had by all and we look forward to our future participation in the corporate touch rugby realm whilst supporting our national BVI woman’s team in their upcoming endeavors.
All kitted up and ready to play! (L-R:Johnny Cadwgans-Evans ; Andy Bickerton; Phil Michaud; Amanda Georges ; Clint Jones- Captain; Natalie Bute ; Casey Emmanuel; Paolo Balleras; Mark Downing; (floor) Danielle Cadwgans-Evans)
